Now, the confusing part of the house history is Francis Fohey

Lynn thought he was the young man who had tuberculosis and slept out on the upstairs un porch.

But in Lynn's trip to the library  and to the Courthouse and to the Health Department as well,

searching for a birth date to determine Francis’s true origin (son of W. J. Fohey or not?)

and/or death date (died in this house as I told Lynn I felt he died there because when entering the

porch area my body temperture felt so very warm.),

Lynn found the same results she found (and now remember finding) back when she  first did all this house research:

namely nothing at all on Francis.  So he remains as much of a big question mark as is

the handsome young man whose picture frame was found inside the kitchen walls.

Picture of unknown young man

Lynn's Uncle , Francis or Frank as everyone called him, lived here from late December 1946 until his death on June 30, 1978

He was married briefly to a German girl he met while serving in the army overseas during World War II.

The marriage only lasted a year and a half, no children, and the divorce was amicable.

He never remarried.  After her parents moved out of the home and began to have their own apartments in town,

and then eventually their own house, Lynn's grandparents moved to the upstairs of the home ,

and her uncle had the entire downstairs all to himself.

Lynn's grandparents continued to live upstairs until the times of their deaths, and then the upstairs saw several rentals.

Lynn and her were two of the upstairs tenants as well, for a few years, then moving downstairs after Lynn's uncle died.

Shortly after he died, they began to hear heavy footfalls passing from one room to another.

They were never afraid and realized it was probably just Lynn's uncle, coming back to keep an eye on things.

After lynn's girlfriend moved out and Lynn started living there alone, the heavy footfalls continued from time to time

and made her feel comforted and protected.

Her cats showed interest but never fear, as if they recognized the spirit (they had known her uncle when he was alive).

Several friends of hers, while there and in separate incidents, also heard the footfalls

, so she knew she was not imagining things.

In later years the frequency of the footfalls became lesser until finally she no longer heard anything at all.

She figured her uncle had finally gone on to find the Light and missed his presence here,

yet have been told by me on a the visit to the house)

that he still comes and goes at will.

This is indeed a comforting thought for Lynn.

Her cats now, though long since changed from the original group that was around when her uncle was alive,

will still, at times, gaze intently at some mysterious spot on the wall, usually in the room in which her uncle died.

And she  still, by habit, will turn her head to look, and find nothing there for her eyes to see.

She has always loved this old house and have done her best to do right by it and

to always pay homage to all those who have gone before.

Here is Angies feelings about her First Ghost Hunt. My feelings on the hunt were....WOW!!!

I never thought I would experience the cold spots like I did, nor hearing EVPs on Susan's recorder.

It sent shivers down my spine, but in a good way!

I can now see how people don't need special equipment to "detect" if there really is a spirit around.

You just have to relax and use what you feel to help understand what is happening.

Thank you so much Pat for the wonderful learning experience!

,

Thank you Lynn once again

Kingsbury Ordnance Plant

Kingsbury Ordnance Plant

During World War II The United States War Department

chose LaPorte County as one of the sites for a munitions plant .

It was called the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant (KOP).

The  reasons LaPorte county was chosen as a site for this munitions plants,

it was far enough away from both coasts to escape invasions or bombings.

There were, three railroads that served the area, there were also thousands

of people available to work, plus enough land available for the plants,

and an adequate water supply. Approximately 13,454 acres were acquired for the plants.

KOP was built between 1940 and 1941. The first shell for a bomb was completed in 1941.

KOP produced millions of shells sizes going from 20 mm to 105 mm.

At its a peak  20,785 employees in May 1942.

The war ended in August 1945, the plants began the process of closing down.

Then in 1951, it was put in use during the Korean War.

In 1959, the United States government closed KOP and sold it.

Part of the land is now the Kingsbury State Fish & Wildlife Area and other areas are used for industry.

Home was in 1923, but we were told that a

smaller portion of the house,

the main part was actually built in 1912.

This info had comes from,oddly

enough, from what turned out to be the original builder,

a man who turned out to be Linn's mother's brother-in-laws

close relatives, last name of Talian. The rest of the house was then added

 between the 1912 and 1923.

Notice Orbs In Living Room Area Near Our Members

Upon first night of moving in during
the summer of 1971,
Linn & her brother stayed there and slept
 on the living room floor,
with no electric turned on.The house was bought from the
Eck family and Linn's Father were aware
that mother had passed away in the front bedroom and
therefore the house was sold very cheaply
to get rid of it asap. Linn's father did not tell the
 childtren about Mrs Eck's passing.
That night around 2 am the famliy woke up to the sound
 of a marching band
or big band music playing. Linn was 4, her brother was 7
they were not so much scared
as they had no idea what was going on. It stopped and
they went back to thier
sleeping bags only to then hear the sounds of someone
stomping across the living room ceiling.

Orbs In Attic
The activity continued for years scaring thier friends
that would come for sleepovers.
Things continued to happen, objects come up missing
only to found much
later in places that they could not have been placed,
a man with no face dressed in black with buckleshoes
and smells of rotting flesh , he would wake Linn in the middle of the night,
and Mrs. Eck actually once showed herself to a 21 year old friend
one night by sitting in Linn's grandmas rocking chair.
That same rocking chair would rock by itself in the middle
of the night. The family dog was thrown against a bedroom door.
Current activity includes someone calling my Linn's son's name,
the sound of someone walking up the basement
stairs and walking the hall, sparkling lights in the attic,
stomping or pounding on the ceiling that is in an unfinished
floor area of the attic, objects continue to move or dissapear
altogethor, the dog growls or whines at the top of the basement
stairs and will refuse to go up them unless you go with her.
Conversations heard while on the stairs, the apperance of a boy
dressed in drab clothing in the corner of the yard, and a basement
that has turned so icy cold that we saw our breath and things can
be heard moving or crashing in the basement.

Orbs In Basement

At least 2 deaths are confirmed there,
Mrs. Eck in 1970  or 1971  and Linn's father in 2006 .
A third  death, the old man,
was the original land owner who died in a fire behind the present house
but that info had been a rumor and has not yet been  confirmed.
A cat and a dog , both former family pets  have been seen,
the cat was seen a year ago and the dog just in the last week.
This is a home we will be returning to soon
there is much more that needs to be checked into.
While we were in the basement area the tempature was 88 degrees
but we all were cold enough to see goosebumps on our skin.
The attic area there was a cold spot then everyone that went up got
to see a dark shadow one of our members even heard it
coming across the attic floor.
